Photos From the North Hero Piper's Gathering
2004
A good time had by all, despite the weather
(from hot-and-muggy to stormy). Many thanks to the organizers, once again.
Oh yeah, and thanks to the proprietors and employees of the Shore Acres
Inn for making their place one of the most comfortable in the world, and
serving food and drinks to all thirsty hungry pipers, and for the coffee.
If you see anything that needs correction or addition, please don't hesitate
to contact me. Now let's see some photos.

David Power astounding us with one
of the most brilliant C sets I've ever heard.
David Quinn demonstrates a mighty
C pitch set of his own make.

My son and I went for a late-night
swim. Iain MacHarg and Aron Garceau suantered out onto the pier and serenaded
us on Native American Flutes. Aaawww! Thanks!

The Concerts
Andy May. In addition to some brilliant
Northumbrian Piping, he gets the blue ribbon for onstage sense-of-humor.
Andy May and Anthony Santoro
joined Finn Moore onstage for a combination of Border Pipes (based on the
key of A), Northumbrian Smallpipes (based on the key of G) and Uilleann
Pipes (based on the key of D). They actually pleasantly converged the three!
Brian McNamara. He is a great "gentleman
piper" with 3 wonderful albums to his credit.
David Power. His regulator work (hey,
I would say chanter work, too) was excellent!
Dick Henshold. Notes emerge "like
peas from a pod".
Finn Moore. Raised in the tradition
and that becomes apparent with the first measure.
Grahm Mulholland and Finn Moore.
Amazing how complementary their styles on the Border Pipes.
Graham Mulholland. Border pipes
so good, I wanted to bite concrete.
Hamish Moore and Ellen
McFee. A homogenous pair of Scottish Smallpipes
Hamish Moore. Raised his son in the
tradition. He has been to just about every Piper's Gathering, and it is
great to hear him in as good a form for playing as ever.
Iain MacHarg and Aron Garceau. Guitar accompanying
Scottish Smallpipes and Highland Pipes. I beseached Iain to play Highland
Pipes, and he did, and how!
Iain and Aron with Ellen McFee Dancing
(Sorry about the blur, Ellen. You were moving pretty fast.)
Jean-Pierre Rasle. He was a
very welcome representative of French Piping traditions, this year. I hope
he returns.
Benedict Koehler and
Hillary Farrington were joined onstage by friends. I said their music is
sweet and I meant it!
These are several shots of the F-5 Tornado
that came through on Sunday afternoon. (Awright, awright, don't start sending
me excited emails. There wasn't really an F-5 tornado. Sure looks like it
in the first photo, though, eh?) Then, the rain came
